Thousand Islands
The Thousand Islands trip was done with the CLEE group and as usual we were
well looked after and caught up with a host of friends. We left Kitchener/Waterloo early on the Friday afternoon traveling on the 4 oh wonderful (Hwy 401 or as the local commuters call it the parking lot due to the traffic jams) and arrived safely in a small town just
past Kingston called Gananoque. Found the Motel we were staying at and also found that the Aussies had taken over the pool area and were well and truly having a good time. Lots of fun and laughs and a good time to catch up and make plans for future meetings. This was also the last time we would see some of the people we first met on CLEE ac
tivities as they would be returning to Australia and other parts of the world in July.

On the Saturday we headed for the dock for a 3 hour cruise (of course everyone sang the theme song to Gilligans Island) of the Thousand Islands. Unfortunately the weather was overcast and a bit dreary making photo opportunities not as good as hoped but still a great time. After the cruise Jenny and I checked out the local area then hired a bike for a ride along the shore of the river. Forgot to mention that Alex had decide
d to go to a surf carnival on this weekend. Back to the motel for more drinks around the pool then to dinner at the motel dining room then to the local theatre to watch a play. The theatre overlooked the water and the weather conditions had improved since the cruise giving us a fabulous view of the waterways as t
he sun was setting. The plays at the theatre are very well known and performers are of a high calibre. We were not disappointed with the performance we saw as it was hilarious.

Next day turned out to be very sunny as we headed back home via Kingston. The day in Kingston started off at the tourist information centre where we ran into others from CLEE doing the same thing. We booked into a trolley tour and while we waited went for a stroll around
the markets. The trolley tour was fun and educational giving us more knowledge of the history of Canada. This day was also the day that Australia played Brazil in the soccer world cup so we met up with some Aussies in a pub and watched the game till half time before heading home. It was 0-0 when we left and I had my hopes on at least a draw against Brazil after this fine first half performance but was put in my place when I got home to find the final score of 0-2.
